Who's got the good matchups this week at wide receiver? Who should you stay away from? Well, let's take a look.
Wide eeciever sleepers These are players who might be on waivers or sitting on your bench that you might want to consider giving a look. Derrick Mason at IndianapolisMason doesn't have a great quarterback throwing to him, but injuries on the Indianapolis secondary make him a pretty good pick, especially in point per reception (PPR) leagues. Mason has always had great hands and against soft coverage has a great track record of making things happen. Amani Toomer at ClevelandToomer has been a pretty solid option for Eli Manning this season. While some of the more explosive receivers had big games in the place of Plaxico Burress, but Toomer has increased his yards per catch each game this season and remains a security blanket for Manning. Cleveland has a very weak defense all the way around. Brandon Stokley vs. JacksonvilleWith Eddie Royal battling a sprained ankle, Stokley could get the start, or at least increased targets this weekend against Jacksonville. Stokley has been an effective pass catcher this season and Jay Cutler seems to be looking to him more as Stokley has caught more balls the last two games than the previous three combined. He's another strong PPR start. Matt Jones at DenverJones may be headed for a suspension, but it won't be this weekend. Denver's defense still hasn't been able to shake its reputaiton of being weak and with the exception of last week against a very strong Pittsburgh defense, Jones has been a very valuable receiver for the Jaguars. Maybe if he did something about that mustache, people might take him more seriously. Wide receivers to avoidThese are players who maybe don't have the best matchups and should be avoided at all possible this week. Braylon Edwards vs. New York GiantsEdwards has been simply dreadful this season and his team's quarterback situation is even worse, which should be reason enough to keep Edwards clear of your starting lineup. If you need further convincing, he's going up against one of the league's premiere defenses. Marvin Harrison vs. BaltimoreIt's sad to say it, but he simply isn't the impact player he once was. His inability to separate has become remarkably clear, especially against weaker defenses such as Jacksonville and Houston and his yards per catch are the worst he's ever had in his career. On top of that, he faces the NFL's top defense against the pass. Isaac Bruce vs. PhiladelphiaIt's going to be a very tough day for J.T. O'Sullivan throwing the football, which means it will be a long day for anyone he'd be throwing to. On top of that, as the team's top receiver, he will probably draw a lot of Asante Samuel and a lot of couble teams in coverage.
